COLLABORATORS & CONTRIBUTORS
Nataša Xerri
Nataša has been a writer for as long as she can remember. An avid reader, she is captivated by the dark and beautiful world of fairy tales and loves nothing more than discovering a new tale. Nataša has written various articles, published short stories in anthologies, and recently wrote a play.
She is the author of A Stranger’s Tale, an illustrated book inspired by the traditional telling of tales as they were once told, possibly by a roaring fire, passed down in whispered words from one traveller to another. Now, Nataša is fully dedicated to creating Fabled, a literary and art magazine designed to be a platform for indie writers and creatives of all kinds. Nataša has always been a great supporter of writers, artists, thinkers, and creators.
“We need them. We need art and beauty in this world. We need to support those who speak the truth, who write their truth and give voice to things both terrible and beautiful. There is nothing braver than putting yourself out there creatively for all the world to see. And the world wants to see it, needs to. Art, in all its many forms, is something we will always crave.”
In her spare time, you can find Nataša exploring the woods, searching for things unseen, at the theatre, where she also spends some time stage managing plays or spending time with her family. Mostly, though, you’ll find her drinking coffee and buried in a pile of books.
Adam Oehlers
After receiving his Honours degree in Illustration, Adam moved to England from Australia and has since exhibited worldwide between Australia, the UK, Europe, and the States. Along the way, he managed to get some books published, including Dear Little Emmie, The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner, Cinderella Jump Rope Rhymes, A Stranger’s Tale written by Nataša Xerri, and his own, The Mushroom Garden, which is the first book he both wrote and illustrated.
Adam has dipped his toes into the worlds of animation and concept art and has worked with Owl House Studios as the concept artist and character designer on their animations. Adam has also worked as a concept artist, character designer, and writer for PS4, along with various production companies for film and television, including Disney’s live-action Pinocchio, as well as programs such as Gentleman Jack, Humans Series 3, and the newly released Sanditon.
Having recently been introduced to the world of tarot, Adam currently has five decks under his belt, along with creator Stephanie Burrows, Leeza Robertson, and Llewellyn Publishing. He is currently working on a sixth tarot project, which will soon be announced.
“I have always found a great deal of inspiration from the classic illustrations of Arthur Rackham, Edward Gorey, and any intricate classic pen illustrations and print work. I have a great love of old stories and fairy tales and aim to tell a story through every illustration. In my work, I strive to create a sense of nostalgia to take the viewer back to a forgotten memory, with the goal of reminding them of the soft magic that surrounds us. I am drawn very strongly to the natural world and the small, unseen magic that accompanies it, and I am currently exploring the idea of ‘Natural Magic’, building a world of strange magic and creatures that have been allowed to flourish without interference by the human world.”
